Because of the limited space inside the mask to breathe, the chance of inhaling too much carbon dioxide instead of oxygen may lead the diver to experience hypercapnia.
Respiratory diseases may result in hypercapnia posing great dangers to divers.

Professional divers only use full-face scuba mask. As with other matters, a seminar and training are preceded during the dive especially to first-time divers. Proper training and knowledge are required before taking the dive.

To recreational divers, settling for simple diving mask is a good option when snorkeling.
