Diving Associations
Scuba diving is not just one sport or recreational activity that will test one’s mettle and courage. It is also one activity that provides one great opportunity for the staunch supporters of this sport to meet and share their own thoughts and experiences. Likewise it can also give the newbies some helpful insights from the pros and experts on how to make use of their potentials. For this reason, the men and women lovers of scuba diving have found one good reason to form diving associations.
It truly feels good to belong to a group. Diving associations are thus organized to provide scuba divers a sense of belongingness. After all, no man or woman is an island, sound like and old cliché but it still hold true even until today. Different people with different motivations have grouped together so that they can have their own support system. It is small wonder to see the different diving associations with different interests espousing their own cause.
Any scuba diver who wants to meet other scuba divers would surely like to be part of a scuba diving association. This is one big chance for the scuba divers to help educate scuba diving enthusiasts on the importance of safety and environmental protection. After all, the vast seas and oceans are their only refuge for an exciting and fulfilling day of scuba diving. Hence it is very important that a diver should enlist himself or herself to any of the highly esteemed diving associations. Joining in any of these groups is not so much on the prestige that one can get, though it helps sometimes, but more importantly on the opportunity to help others learn and appreciate the essence of scuba diving.
One of the most prominent and highly respected organizations in scuba diving is the International Diving Educators Association. It claims to be the first in scuba diving education. This group was formed way back in 1952 based in Florida, USA. Because of the proximity of the State of Florida to the islands in the Caribbean and the nearby seas, the association is now widely known in some of the scuba diving destinations in the world like the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Barbados, Aruba, Antilles, Bermuda, and Jamaica. Because of the attention the organization is getting from the rest of the scuba diving world it is now one of the members of Diving Equipment Manufacturers Association.
Truly so, a diving equipment manufacturing association is also one important organization that will help engender and protect the best interests of the manufacturers of diving equipment. It can police its own members to make sure that diving equipment that each member manufactures strictly follows the international safety standards. It also paves the way for healthy competition among them thus the scuba diving public are the most benefited. Furthermore this will also help discourage the proliferation of fly-by-night suppliers and distributors of substandard diving equipment. Hence with the formation of other groups that are focus of the business side of scuba diving can only make the scuba diving world more dynamic and healthier ensuring that everyone is in safe hands. After all that is should be the main purpose of the putting up a group.
Another one prominent group in the scuba diving is the Association of Diving Contractors. Though this group is not on the operating on the recreational and sport side of scuba but instead on the commercial aspect of it. This group was formed because of the need to protect the support system of companies that provide underwater industrial operations. This is also to ensure that only the highest safety measures are uphold in the conduct of any underwater industry-related operation.
Diving associations are the so-called bastion of camaraderie and service for all the scuba diving enthusiasts regardless of their interests and motivations thus making a group more cohesive and stronger. One can now truly say that there is strength in unity.
